About SCWS
The California South Area is divided into 30 geographical districts, as depicted in the Area map, encompassing approximately 1050 Al-Anon and Alateen groups and 1250 meetings; some groups meet multiple times per week. The California South Area is comprised of the following service arms:

Customary Annual Activities
Service Meetings
- Area Assemblies – 2 meetings per year, third Saturday in May & November
- Area Committee – 2 meetings per year, third Saturday in February & August
- Panel Meetings – 4 meetings per year, a month prior to the Area Committee & Assembly meetings
- Sharing of Service (SOS) – third Saturday in January
- Southwest Regional Delegates Meeting (SWRDM) – second weekend in March, location rotating among the region’s areas
Area Recognized Conventions
- Al-Anon Family Groups (AFG) Convention – Held in March / April
- Southern California Alateen Conference (SCAC) – Held in June / July
- Southern California AA Convention with Al-Anon Participation – Held September / October
