The Area World Service Assembly is one of the three arms of service as described below.

Area Structure

The California South Area is divided into 30 geographical districts, as depicted in the Area map, encompassing approximately 1060 Al-Anon and Alateen groups and 1260 meetings; some groups meet multiple times per week. California South Area World Service is comprised of the following service arms:

  • Area World Service Board
  • Area World Service Committee
  • Area World Service Assembly

The Area World Service Board serve a three year term, also known as a panel, and consists of the following elected officers and appointed coordinators (linked to job descriptions):

Area World Service Assembly Meeting Information

In order to vote at an Assembly, new Group Representatives (GRs) must register no later than the first Saturday of the month in which the Assembly is held.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON HOW TO ATTEND THE ASSEMBLY
  • To attend the Assembly, EVERYONE, including GUESTS, must complete the sign-up form. Click here for the sign up form.
  • If you have a service position with the SCWS Area, use the email address associated with your role for that service position, i.e., Group Representative (GR) or District Representative (DR) position, to sign up.
  • Keep track of the email received with your unique Zoom access.
  • Attendees must click on the Join Meeting link to access the meeting; it is unique to each registrant. 
  • All members attending will be renamed in the waiting room so please join the meeting early, starting at 8:00 AM
  • Our Spanish-speaking members will choose the Spanish “channel” for interpretation.
  • The only way to access the Assembly is via the Zoom connection using a computer/smartphone.  
  • You need to be running a current Zoom version before accessing the meeting so update your Zoom version before joining the Assembly meeting.
