The Al-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength, and hope, in order to solve their common problems. We believe alcoholism is a family illness, and that changed attitudes can aid recovery.

Al-Anon is not allied with any sect, denomination, political entity, organization, or institution; does not engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any cause. There are no dues for membership. Al-Anon is self-supporting through its own voluntary contributions.

Al-Anon has but one purpose: to help families of alcoholics. We do this by practicing the Twelve Steps, by welcoming and giving comfort to families of alcoholics, and by giving understanding and encouragement to the alcoholic.

World Service Office (WSO) in Virginia Beach – Job Opportunity

Help and hope… We apply this principle in service and also in our personal affairs. You, or someone you know, may now have an opportunity to share this message on a broad scale by considering applying as the next International Specialist.

To fill this role, WSO is looking for an individual who has been an active member of Al-Anon for the last five or more years and has been serving beyond the group level. They are excited to work with someone passionate about Al-Anon service and carrying the message to families and friends of alcoholics.

Are you that member? Have you ever dreamed of working at the WSO or even wondered what it would be like? If you believe you might be – or even if you only have an inkling –  talk to your Sponsor and your Higher Power and then, if you feel called, simply do the footwork and trust the outcome.

Thank you for considering this opportunity. The position description is attached for a summary of the job duties and position requirements. They anticipate receiving and reviewing your cover letter accompanied by a service and professional resume at HumanRes@al-anon.org.

“Participating in service has demonstrated to me some of the day-to-day reality of recovery in Al-Anon stretching back over the last half-century; it has given me a sense that there is a lasting hope in the world and that I can make a difference in preserving and imparting a continuing sense of positive achievement.” When I Got Busy, I Got Better (P-78) page 34
